Tyler Fire Equipment was founded by Wayne and Vickie Tyler in June 1977 after working in the sales department at Pierce in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Upon returning to Elmira, New York in June 1977, Wayne and Vickie operated the business out of their home. They purchased a small two bay shop in March 1979 to perform apparatus service work and better prepare new apparatus for delivery.
In March 1981 they leased a 3,600 square foot facility enabling them to better perform service work on sold apparatus and expand the service end of the organization. They officially formed TYFESCO, Tyler Fire Equipment Service Corp., on November 4, 1983.
Tyler Fire Equipment, and TYFESCO moved in to a new 10,000 square foot facility designed by them and built to their specific needs on 2.7 acres of property in April 1987. It incorporated six service bays and a complete office complex to accommodate their employees and better serve their valued customers. They also gained considerable inventory space for the service parts and fire equipment.

But the growing business soon outgrew their accommodations. An addition of approximately 2,900 square feet was completed in December 1995, adding a much needed showroom for equipment sales, a conference room and an up-to-date sales area to accommodate the sales staff.

An addition of approximately 9,600 square feet was completed in January 2003, adding 4 additional much needed service bays, a fabrication shop and an indoor pump test facility with a 20,000 gallon water reservoir giving us the ability of running NFPA / UL pump tests on pumps as large as 2,000 GPM.

Tyler Fire Equipment’s service department includes nine service vehicles and thirteen service personnel who provide the fire industry with the fine service they deserve. The Elmira facility offers 10 bays comprised of 17,100 square feet and the Albany facility offers 6 service bays, equipment showroom and office complex with training facility comprised of 13,818 square feet. Our newest location is in Syracuse NY just off exit 39 of the NYS Thruway. The facility has a showroom and a total of 6 service bays comprised of 13,950 square feet.
They handle everything from protective clothing, nozzles and hose gaskets to the fire apparatus itself.
